Air Check Valves

Air Check Valves are for use with M7, M10, M15, M25 and M30 meters. They play a crucial role in ensuring accurate measurement, as well as protecting metering systems. Designed to work in harmony with air eliminators, because they stop the flow of product through the meter until the system eliminates unwanted air. So, like many valves used in industrial applications, air check valves help maintain safety and reliability in demanding environments.

How Air Check Valves Work

Air Check Valves feature a spring-loaded design and sit on the outlet side of the meter. In most Liquid Controls meter systems, installers pair an air eliminator with either an Air Check Valve or a differential valve. During installation, technicians pipe the air eliminator and the valve together so they operate as one integrated unit.

In normal operation, the Air Check Valve stays closed. So, when the pump starts and pushes product into the system, the flow pressure overcomes the spring force and opens the valve. However, when the air eliminator expels air, the system routes that air to the back of the valve spring. So, this extra pressure, combined with the spring’s strength, keeps the valve closed until the system removes all air.
